Morning Glory

Tonight I went to see the movie Morning Glory with my sister.  I really liked parts of the movie but other parts, there was a lack of storyline.  The one storyline that I thought was really interesting was that one of the characters had an issue with news today. There was a debate about morning news being all about entertainment and nightly news being more about "news stories" (i.e. no "fluff').  It got me thinking about news programs today and how the morning news is light and carefree with little to no "bad news." When you turn the TV on at night and watch the news, you get the depressing scary stories that aren't all that pleasant to watch. Could news programs have a happy medium and still be successful?
